Instagram finally updated the interface for the big screen

Instagram is one of the most popular social platforms in the world, but it hasn’t long had a suitable interface for large screen devices. That eventually changed, as many people noticed the new look of Instagram on the Galaxy Z Fold5.

This new interface places Stories at the top and extends the feed to the sides of the screen, while ensuring Reels keeps the same aspect ratio with the two black spaces.

The app shifts the navigation bar to the left, showing the home, search, new posts, Reels, your profile, notifications and messages buttons in a vertical format. The new interface is clearly better than the old interface on a device with a large screen like the Galaxy Z Fold5, but is being implemented quite slowly.

This update first appeared within a few days of Samsung’s launch of the Fold5 but appears to be rolling out on an account-by-account basis.

It seems that this new interface is exclusive to the Galaxy Z Fold series, as 9to5Google says the change does not appear on the Google Pixel Fold or any other large screen device.

Google has been stepping up support for large-screen devices lately, making Android tablets even more appealing. This new Instagram interface is likely to be widely available across many products, but it is not clear when.
